EBERHARD & CO. IS SPONSORING THE EXHIBITION EVOCATIVELY ENTITLED “THE DAREDEVILS OF THE WHITE ROADS. NUVOLARI, VARZI, CAMPARI AND OTHER HEROES OF THE CUNEO – MADDALENA PASS RACE”, CURATED BY GIOSUÈ BOETTO COHEN, ON DISPLAY AT THE COMPLESSO MONUMENTALE SAN FRANCESCO IN CUNEO UNTIL 29TH SEPTEMBER.

Alongside MAUTO (National Automobile Museum of Turin) and the comune of Cuneo, Eberhard & Co. is supporting this large-scale project, which shows the public part of an archive containing an incredible 40,000 shots and films taken by the piedmont photographer Adriano Scoffone (1891-1980) as well as launches a digital database that can be viewed online.

Through a selection of 80 splendid images, the exhibition tells the stories of the Cuneo-Maddalena pass automobile races in 1925, 1926, 1927 and 1930. The shots feature drivers with unprecedented audacity and cars that achieved unimaginable feats considering the roads they were racing on.

Tazio Nuvolari is a key figure in the photos on display. One of the biggest names in car racing around the world, he participated in the fourth edition of the race (1930) winning in an Alfa Romeo p2 with an incredible average speed of 103.771 km/h.

Next to the snaps of the champion, the public can admire an Eberhard & Co. pocket watch from the 1930s with an alarm function, identical to the piece that belonged to “Nivola”, of which only the box has ever been found.

“The daredevils of the white roads. Nuvolari, Varzi, Campari and other heroes of the Cuneo – Maddalena pass race” will be presented at MAUTO (National Automobile Museum) in Turin in 2021.
