There is a symbol that, for over a century, has silently accompanied the history of Eberhard & Co.: the eagle that stands atop the La Maison de l’Aigle, the Maison’s headquarters and the museum dedicated to its heritage, in the heart of La Chaux-de-Fonds.
Damaged by a violent storm, the sculpture had been temporarily removed from its position. After a careful restoration carried out by La Zinguerie d’Art, the eagle has returned to its place, regaining its iconic presence on the dome of the Maison.
A symbol of independence and vision
For Eberhard & Co., the eagle has never been just an architectural element. It is an identifying symbol that expresses independence, continuity, and vision. It has always looked over La Chaux-de-Fonds, a landmark city of Swiss watchmaking, accompanying the Maison’s history since 1887. Its silent presence represents a deep connection to its roots and to the spirit that has guided Eberhard & Co. over time, and its return “home” marks a moment that reaffirms a natural continuity in the Maison’s story.
A time capsule for the future
On the occasion of the eagle’s return to the dome of La Maison de l’Aigle, Eberhard & Co. has also chosen to make a gesture aimed at the future: the sealing of a time capsule inside the eagle. A container designed to preserve and transmit to future generations a tangible trace of who Eberhard & Co. is today. Inside the capsule, several elements representing the contemporary Maison have been placed, accompanied by a letter signed by CEO Barbara Monti and a component of the Chronographe 1887 Édition Limitée, featuring the upper bridge customised in the shape of the Shield, the Maison’s emblem.
All elements are transformed into a narrative, condensing nearly 140 years of history in which mechanical excellence, independence, and identity are inseparable.
