The Eberhard & Co. Museum Welcomed Visitors for the 12th Watchmaking Heritage Biennial

On 30 and 31 October, Eberhard & Co. took part in the 12th Watchmaking Heritage Biennial, opening the doors of its Museum in La Chaux-de-Fonds to collectors, enthusiasts and visitors eager to discover the Maison’s rich heritage.

Held across the historic watchmaking centres of La Chaux-de-Fonds, Le Locle and Saint-Imier, the Biennial once again celebrated the cultural and industrial legacy of Swiss watchmaking, bringing together some of its most significant institutions and historical sites.

A Journey Through Nearly 140 Years of History

Set within the historic Maison de l’Aigle, the Eberhard & Co. Museum offered guided tours through nearly 140 years of the Maison’s history. Visitors explored a unique collection spanning from late nineteenth-century pocket watches to historic chronographs and contemporary creations, complemented by archival documents, original components and watchmaking tools that testify to the evolution of the brand and its savoir-faire.

Two New Acquisitions Join the Collection

A highlight of the event was the presentation of two recently acquired timepieces, both dating from 1969.

The Contograf: A Chronograph Icon
The first acquisition is a Contograf ref. 31504, a manually wound mechanical chronograph distinguished by its striking black “reverse panda” dial, water-resistant steel case and distinctive tachymetric and telemetric scales. A compelling example of the Maison’s expertise in chronograph-making.

A Precious Interpretation of Time
Alongside it, visitors discovered a jewelled watch brooch crafted in rose gold and embellished with enamel and precious stones. Combining horological expertise and refined artistry, the piece embodies a more decorative yet equally sophisticated expression of the Maison’s creativity and elegance.

Preserving and Sharing a Living Legacy

The Museum’s participation in the Biennial once again highlighted the importance of preserving and sharing watchmaking culture with a wider audience.

For two special days, visitors had the opportunity to experience firsthand the history, craftsmanship and enduring values that continue to define Eberhard & Co., reaffirming the Museum’s role as a guardian of the Maison’s heritage and a bridge between its past, present and future.
